The Forth Bridges Accordion Band is a community marching band based in the town of Bo'ness. The band was founded and formed by local primary school teacher Mr Alan Potters with the aim of "providing our local community with the performance and teaching of music".
The band is open to anyone who is interested in learning a musical instrument or who already is able to play a musical instrument and are willing to take part in marching parades. All our members are provided with a free instrument, tuition and uniform. Our group is a very family orientated group and we have some families who have joined the band with members of their family spanning over 3 generations. We have around 50 members from the age of 3 to 70+ The band provides musical entertainment across Scotland throughout the year by taking part in gala day parades, fair days, garden fetes, opening events, Christmas parades and parades such as riding of the marches celebrations. The Concert Band is available for smaller events such as indoor concerts, performances in Nursing Homes, Fundraising events, parties etc. The band takes part in around 40 engagements each year. The band also performs outside Scotland, with our next engagement being in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland when the band takes part in the towns annual St Patricks Day Celebrations on the 17th March 2015. |
